Southampton fans are far from happy with Adam Blackmore’s update on Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The Saints had been interested in a move for the 23-year-old, who has started just five Premier League matches for Arsenal in the Premier League so far this campaign (Transfermarkt). They were not the only side eyeing the England international, though, with Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion also mentioned as potential suitors (Sky Sports).
However, it seems Ralph Hasenhuttl and co have pulled out of a deal, which would have been a loan, as they became increasingly frustrated with Maitland-Niles’ representatives. As such, they will need to look elsewhere as the Gunners ace looks likely to join West Brom instead, via Sky Sports.
Would you liked to have signed Maitland-Niles?
The Southampton fans, it seems, are disappointed at this news, which was shared by Blackmore on Twitter. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about the Maitland-Niles news below
“So much pain, no left back”
“Got to be kidding me. We’ve just sent Vokins out on loan and apparently sending Valery out on loan what are we playing at, one senior fit fullback at the club. What is the plan?!”
“Feels like saints have mishandled this transfer window. In my opinion waiting until deadline day is never wise. As for finances @AdamBlackmore are they so bad administration is likely”
“Agents killing the game again”
“Some things never change at Saints. We need an owner that matches the ambition of our club and will back us financially. We have so much potential but Gao has the entire club on a leash.”
