According to The Daily Mail, Southampton have been offered the chance to sign Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury on loan until the end of the season.
Saints offered Choudhury
So far this campaign, the 23-year-old has made just 10 appearances in all competitions, with just three of those coming in the Premier League.
As such, the England U21 international may be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium on loan during the winter transfer window, with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion also mentioned as potential suitors.
This is not the first time the Saints have been linked with Choudhury’s signature – he was also said to on the club’s radar during the summer transfer window. His lack of playing time so far this campaign makes any move far more likely.
When that initial speculation emerged, it was reported that Jordan Blackwell was asked whether Choudhury would be able to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s ball-winning abilities – the answer was an emphatic yes, although he did clarify that he believes the Foxes man would be a more aggressive defensive midfielder. Called “extremely talented” by Gary Lineker, he is clearly a player with plenty of ability.
Would you like to sign Choudhury?
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are doing well this season, currently sitting in the top half of the table – whether they need another midfielder who is a back up at his current club remains to be seen.
In other news, Southampton fans are delighted by this latest contract news.
