According to Sampnews24.com, Sampdoria are keen to sell Southampton target Omar Colley, with his eventual transfer described as “inevitable”.
Colley boost for Saints
The Saints were linked with a move for the central defender during the summer, but he ended up staying at his current club. However, he has made just three appearances in Serie A so far this campaign, and this report says that his departure is now inevitable.
Fulham were close to signing him in the past window, agreeing a fee of €11m (£10.7m). However, work permit issues appeared to be a problem at the time. Whilst the rules are not totally clear as to Colley’s availability, the percentage of international matches he has played for Gambia in the past two years has significantly increased. As such, there should be no such issues securing the move.
Boost for Hasenhuttl
Colley is clearing an intriguing option. The 28-year-old was a mainstay in the Sampdoria side in Serie A last season, making 31 appearances, and he was even compared to Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly when Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero was discussing his potential departure.
Would you like to sign Omar Colley?
While Southampton are currently fourth in the Premier League table, they have still shipped 12 goals in the competition – there is certainly room for improvement from a defensive point of view for Ralph Hasenhuttl. At a rather low price, Colley could be just the man to provide them with a boost, especially Mohammed Salisu does not perform.
In other news, Saints fans laud this current star.
