According to The Sun, Southampton are interested in signing Manchester United’s Brandon Williams on loan during the January transfer window.
Williams wanted by Saints
Ralph Hasenhuttl and co. wanted the 20-year-old during the summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to let him leave United despite capturing Alex Telles.
The Saints are still eager to take him to St. Mary’s Stadium for the rest of the campaign though. However, with Luke Shaw now injured, it makes Southampton’s job far more difficult.
So far this campaign, Williams has made just three appearances in all competitions. Last term, though, he was a regular under Solskjaer, playing 36 times. Described as “excellent” by Rio Ferdinand, it looked as though he would become a regular for the Old Trafford outfit.

However, just because he is not playing on a regular basis with the Red Devils, that doesn’t mean he is not good enough for the Saints. Hasenhuttl does already have Ryan Bertrand at his disposal, but at 31, he may not be available for every single game, meaning that Williams could be a fantastic option.
Currently valued at £9.9m (Transfermarkt), a loan deal is more likely than a permanent transfer, but he could still do a job for the south coast side in the short-term.
In other news, Southampton fans slam this man against Wolves.
