# Southampton: Saints eye Japhet Tanganga

**[According to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas](https://twitter.com/SkySportsLyall/status/1356228557719162880), Southampton are interested in signing Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga on loan until the end of the season.**

### **Saints eye Hasenhuttl**

Tanganga was also linked with a switch to West Bromwich Albion [by the Express and Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2021/01/31/west-brom-want-two-more-signings/) in the last few hours.

Now, though, it seems the Saints are eyeing an approach for the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £7.2m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/marktwertverlauf/spieler/346478)).

### **Suits Saints’ needs**

Without a single minute of action in the Premier League this term ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346478)) to his name, Tanganga is clearly not in Jose Mourinho’s immediate plans in north London. As such, a loan away from the club could make sense.

Previously compared to Aston Villa and Ireland legend Paul McGrath by Tony Cascarino after his performance in Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last season ([talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/654351/tottenham-japhet-tanganga-manchester-united-debut-liverpool/)), he is clearly a player with plenty of talent. Ralph Hasenhuttl has made it clear he is looking for a full-back in this transfer window ([The Daily Echo](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/19038007.hasenhuttl-still-hopeful-recruiting-full-back-transfer-window/)), and Tanganga could seemingly be that man.
