# Southampton: Fans slam Mohamed Salisu vs Everton

**Some Southampton fans hammered the display of Mohamed Salisu during their 1-0 defeat to Everton on Monday.**

Salisu, who [signed for the Saints last summer](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/12047984/mohammed-salisu-southampton-sign-defender-from-real-valladolid) from Real Valladolid, started against the Toffees at Goodison Park. Richarlison scored the only goal for Carlo Ancelotti’s men as Everton picked up the three points – Southampton have now won just one of their last 14 games in the Premier League ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/southampton-results)).

The £10.8m-valued Salisu ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohammed-salisu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/563963)) was making just his [fourth](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohammed-salisu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/563963) appearance in the league for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side after [struggling with injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohammed-salisu/verletzungen/spieler/563963) for a large chunk of the campaign. It proved to be a very difficult evening for the 21-year-old as he failed to get to grips with the physicality of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, winning just [three of his eight duels](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-southampton/VY).

These Saints supporters were far from happy with his performance, which one branded as “pathetic”, and they took to social media platform Twitter to share their thoughts.

**“Calvert Lewin is seriously embarrassing Salisu. Match his physicality, don’t just roll around like a wimp.”**

**“He has to keep Vest and Bednarek as a pair and find a full back. Mc Burnie will bully Salisu who was a bit pathetic against a big forward. Don’t show them you’re hurt. Burke whilst a loose cannon has pace and we need to nullify that. Take a point imo”**

**“DCL was a little loose with his hands but I expect big burly centre backs to be tougher so disappointed in Salisu.”**
