# Southampton: Saints eye Romain Perraud

**[According to Le10 Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-bielsa-veut-une-revelation-de-ligue-1-535396), Southampton are interested in signing Brest left-back Romain Perraud.**

### **Saints eye Perraud**

The Saints have been linked with Brandon Williams throughout the transfer window ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12180167/southampton-want-man-utds-brandon-williams-on-loan)), and have also been eyeing Ainsley Maitland-Niles in recent days ([The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2284088/2021/01/31/transfer-news-live-rumours-football/)).

Now, though, it seems they could be willing to wait until the summer to move for Perraud. The 23-year-old recently [signed a deal with Brest until 2025](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-romain-perraud-prolonge-a-brest-532491), but that may not keep him at the club for the long term. Leeds United have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

### **Interesting option**

As things stand, Southampton could lose one of their first-team regulars in the summer. Ryan Bertrand’s [contract is set to run out at the end of the season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-bertrand/profil/spieler/40611), and there has been no indication that a new deal is close. His departure would leave Southampton with only Jake Vokins as a natural left-back.

Brest are currently 13th in Ligue 1, and Perraud has impressed from the left-side of the defence. So far this campaign, he has managed three goals and five assists ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-perraud/profil/spieler/318523)), showing his attacking threat. Currently valued at £7.2m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-perraud/marktwertverlauf/spieler/318523)), he could well be an interesting option for Ralph Hasenhuttl as he looks to add to his squad in the future.
