# Southampton: Saints enquire about Tammy Abraham

**According to [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/donnarumma-tops-list-for-chelsea-as-dortmund-plan-for-life-after-erling-haaland-transfer-notebook_sto8155788/story.shtml), Southampton have enquired about the possibility of signing Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham in the summer.**

### **Saints eye Abraham**

Abraham’s role at Chelsea appears to be under threat as the Blues pursue Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland ([The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/03/01/do-chelsea-do-tammy-abraham-thomas-tuchel-seems-unconvinced/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1614605474)).

As such, the Saints, along with West Ham, have enquired about the £36m-valued England international ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/marktwertverlauf/spieler/331726)). Abraham is said to believe he should be earning around [£120,000 per week](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/donnarumma-tops-list-for-chelsea-as-dortmund-plan-for-life-after-erling-haaland-transfer-notebook_sto8155788/story.shtml) – considerably more than Southampton’s top earner Fraser Forster, who takes home [£75,000](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/donnarumma-tops-list-for-chelsea-as-dortmund-plan-for-life-after-erling-haaland-transfer-notebook_sto8155788/story.shtml) every seven days.

### **Worth the risk**

If Abraham demanded such a salary even if he were to move to St. Mary’s Stadium, it would leave Southampton with a difficult decision to make. Giving so much to one player would be pretty much unheard of for the south-coast outfit.

However, Abraham would likely be worth the risk. Throughout his career, the 23-year-old has proven to be a deadly finisher – he is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season with 12 goals ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/teams/chelsea/top-scorers)), while he already has 90 goals to his name across all of his clubs at senior level ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/331726)). He also possesses [six caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) for his country – there is no doubt he is a top-quality striker. If the Saints could convince him to join them, it could well be an inspired signing.
