# Tottenham: Spurs in contact with Andreas Christensen’s agents

**Tottenham have been in contact with the agents of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2022/02/23/calciomercato-inter-juventus-conte-de-ligt-de-vrij-christensen-rudiger/).**

### The Lowdown: Christensen’s contract situation

The Dane has been on the books at Stamford Bridge since [2015](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/transfers/spieler/196948) and has made [153](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/leistungsdaten/spieler/196948) appearances for the Blues during that time.

The 25-year-old has won [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/erfolge/spieler/196948) senior trophies under numerous managers in west London but is actually out of contract at the end of [June](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/profil/spieler/196948).

Once described as a [‘special talent’](https://twitter.com/siphillipssport/status/901740150010601473) by Simon Phillips, the Denmark international made his [first](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/leistungsdaten/spieler/196948) Premier League appearance of 2022 last weekend, and come the summer, it seems as if he could head across the capital.

### The Latest: Concrete contact

As reported by [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2022/02/23/calciomercato-inter-juventus-conte-de-ligt-de-vrij-christensen-rudiger/), Spurs have had ‘concrete contact’ with Christensen’s agents in the last few hours.

The report also name-checks Bayern Munich with speaking with the player’s representatives, while Barcelona are also thought to be keen on the defender.

### The Verdict: No-brainer for Spurs

Antonio Conte tends to use [three central defenders](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/premier-league/2021-2022/what-antonio-conte-will-change-at-tottenham-back-three-striker-heung-min-son-harry-kane-to-keep-on-g_sto8610514/story.shtml) and seemingly wants reinforcements at the back over the summer, with left-back [Ben Davies](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-davies/leistungsdaten/spieler/192765) regularly used in a central role following the Italian’s arrival in N17.

Therefore, bringing in the [£31.5m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/196948) Christensen for nothing appears to be a no-brainer for Spurs, with Daniel Levy possibly looking to get Conte back on side after [reported](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/17754129/levy-crisis-talks-conte-tottenham/) crunch talks on Thursday. The Dane has plenty of [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andreas-christensen/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/196948) in the Premier League, in Europe and on the international stage, so securing a free transfer could be a shrewd piece of business from Tottenham in the long run.

However, Spurs may have to qualify for Europe in order to lure players like Christensen to the club over the summer, making the next three months crucial for Conte and his side.
