# Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold claims Spurs could sell Erik Lamela if club land Gareth Bale

**Writing for [Football.London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/sergio-reguilon-gareth-bale-medical-18942319), reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has claimed that the potential arrival of Gareth Bale could see chairman Daniel Levy listen to offers for winger Erik Lamela.**

Lamela, who signed for Spurs from AS Roma back in the summer of 2013 for a fee in the region of [£25.7m](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/sergio-reguilon-gareth-bale-medical-18942319), has attracted [mixed reviews from supporters](https://spurs.vitalfootball.co.uk/tottenham-news-lucas-moura-fans-react-west-ham-display-stats-gossip/) over the last few seasons, and the potential arrival of Bale could prompt Levy and co to listen out for offers concerning the Argentine.

Over the last 24 hours, rumours surrounding a Gareth Bale reunion at Spurs have heightened exponentially, with the club now [locked in negotiations](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/sergio-reguilon-gareth-bale-medical-18942319) with Real Madrid over a potential loan deal.

Spurs correspondent Gold has also suggested that Tottenham are indeed looking for a loan deal and could pick up a ‘huge chunk’ of his wages, believed to be around £600,000-per-week before taxes.

The [83-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/profil/spieler/39381) Wales star, who has been linked with a return to Spurs [for some time](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/gareth-bale-tottenham-transfer-talk-major-admission), is now perhaps closer than ever to sealing a move back to north London following intense but ‘[complicated](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/sergio-reguilon-gareth-bale-medical-18942319)‘ negotiations, with his agent confirming that Bale [wants](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/sergio-reguilon-gareth-bale-medical-18942319) a return.

After being left out in the wilderness by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, prompting the infamous ‘[Wales, Golf, Madrid](https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/nov/20/gareth-bale-and-that-wales-golf-madrid-flag-real-are-not-amused)‘ moment, Spurs clinching a deal for Bale could potentially mean the sale of Lamela.

Valued at [£14.4m by Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/111630), ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino once hailed him as a ‘[great talent](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/10095780/mauricio-pochettino-praises-erik-lamela-after-monaco-hat-trick)‘ and his seven-year stay has encompassed [222](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/111630) appearances overall for the club whilst grabbing [33 goals and 47 assists.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/111630)

Whether or not Spurs offload Lamela remains to be seen, but Bale’s potential transfer could prompt Levy to part company with the Argentine.
