# Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy re-joins race for Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir

**According to a report by Turkish outlet [Fanatik](https://www.fanatik.com.tr/ajax-fenerbahceli-altay-bayindiri-transfer-etmek-istiyor-2201988), Tottenham Hotspur are chasing Fenerbahce shot stopper Altay Bayindir alongside Ajax, Lille, Schalke and Werder Bremen – with Spurs having also been interested last year.**

Bayindir, who has shone for the Turkish Super Lig giants this season, earning praise from former Premier League star Mesut Ozil ([Twitter](https://mobile.twitter.com/MesutOzil1088/status/1356623419417231360)), is now reportedly attracting attention from Spurs again, perhaps as a potential heir for Hugo Lloris.

### Tottenham re-join race for Bayandir

Fellow Turkish media outlet [ensonhaber.com](https://m.ensonhaber.com/kralspor/dunyadan-futbol/altay-bayindirin-bonservis-bedeli) claim Fenerbahce will demand around[€20 million (£17.4 million)](https://m.ensonhaber.com/kralspor/dunyadan-futbol/altay-bayindirin-bonservis-bedeli) for their rising star – with the 22-year-old attracting numerous suitors as Fanatik explain.

Indeed, Spurs have allegedly re-joined the race alongside four other European teams – coming after a [2020 Fanatik claim](https://www.fanatik.com.tr/ingiliz-devi-altay-bayindir-icin-kadikoye-geliyor-2122492) that Lilywhites boss Jose Mourinho gave his thumbs up over a move for the ace.

There have been calls in the media for Tottenham to start contemplating a successor for number one shot stopper Lloris ([Alasdair Gold](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/tottenham-been-here-before-hugo-19834695)), who turned 34-years-old on Boxing Day, with Bayandir now linked as a candidate.

### Transfer Tavern take

Lloris was badly exposed during Spurs’ most recent [3-0 loss to Manchester City](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55960002), with the Frenchman failing to stop a tame Rodri spot kick and letting two efforts from Ilkay Gundogan through later in the game.

Bayandir, by comparison, has enjoyed a solid campaign on the continent – as evident by the mounting interest from several European clubs including Spurs.

Time will tell whether Bayandir does become Lloris’ replacement, but for just £17.4m, Levy could do far worse.
