# Tottenham Hotspur: Gareth Bale deal ‘will be done’ as Real Madrid negotiations progress

**According to an update courtesy of [Sky Sports transfer guru Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1306342214746898441), Tottenham Hotspur have been gifted a huge boost in negotiations for club icon Gareth Bale with the final details now being drawn up – then the ‘[deal will be done](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1306342214746898441)‘.**

Bale, who has been out of favour at the Bernabeu after a [public fallout](https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/nov/20/gareth-bale-and-that-wales-golf-madrid-flag-real-are-not-amused) with manager Zinedine Zindane, is on the verge of becoming a Spurs player, with [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12073733/gareth-bale-tottenham-close-to-signing-winger-on-loan-from-real-madrid) also reporting that the Welshman is simply waiting on the green light to leave Madrid and head to north London.

The [83-cap international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/39381)‘s eagerness to return to Tottenham has been well noted by his agent, and Bale’s representative claims that this is the[closest his client has ever come](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1306342214746898441) to leaving Madrid.

Rumours surrounding Bale’s imminent departure, on a [season-long loan](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12073733/gareth-bale-tottenham-close-to-signing-winger-on-loan-from-real-madrid) according to reports, have been flooding in over the last week, with [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/09/exclusive-real-madrid-willing-pay-half-gareth-bales-wages-facilitate/) first claiming that Real would pay [50% of his salary](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/09/exclusive-real-madrid-willing-pay-half-gareth-bales-wages-facilitate/) in an attempt to attract suitors.

Then, [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/real-madrid/20200913/483432877802/bale-real-madrid-manchester-united.html) reported that Bale could leave for as little as £18.2m, presumably prompting some excitement before the [explosion of reports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12073733/gareth-bale-tottenham-close-to-signing-winger-on-loan-from-real-madrid) over the last 48 hours.

Now, a deal could be all but done, with Spurs edging closer and closer to sealing a sensational comeback for the club’s fan favourite Welshman along with [Sergio Reguilon.](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-sergio-reguilon-medical-training-ground-real-madrid-a4548916.html)

After bursting on to the scene, Bale went on to make 203 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 56 goals and assisting 58 more, before departing for Spain ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/39381)).

Seven years after signing for the Galacticos in an [£85.3m deal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23538218), he looks set to return to Spurs in a sensational reunion, with Tottenham supporters now getting justifiably excited.
