# Tottenham Hotspur: Brendan Rodgers ‘very likely’ to be considered as potential Jose Mourinho replacement

**According to a report by journalist Dean Jones, writing for [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/tottenham-news-jose-mourinho-role-to-be-assessed-brendan-rodgers-an-option-inside-football_sto8129927/story.shtml), Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is ‘[very likely](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/tottenham-news-jose-mourinho-role-to-be-assessed-brendan-rodgers-an-option-inside-football_sto8129927/story.shtml)‘ to consider Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers if Jose Mourinho is sacked – with the Lilywhites board member trying and failing to bring him to Spurs before.**

Rodgers has so far guided the Foxes to third in the Premier League table, level on points with Man United, as they chase a Champions League qualification spot after narrowly missing out last season.

### Brendan Rodgers ‘very likely’ to be considered as Spurs boss

Lauded as a ‘very talented’ manager by Mourinho himself recently ([Leicestershire Live](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jose-mourinho-pays-brendan-rodgers-4815059)), Levy has apparently [tried](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/tottenham-news-jose-mourinho-role-to-be-assessed-brendan-rodgers-an-option-inside-football_sto8129927/story.shtml) and failed to convince the 48-year-old into joining Spurs before – with the chairman ‘very likely’ to consider Rodgers once again if Tottenham’s current boss is shown the door.

RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann is also being tipped as a candidate alongside Rodgers, but it remains to be seen as to who Levy will appoint if he does in fact decide to axe Mourinho.

### Transfer Tavern take

Things have not gone according to plan at Tottenham, as per [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/tottenham-news-jose-mourinho-role-to-be-assessed-brendan-rodgers-an-option-inside-football_sto8129927/story.shtml), with Levy frustrated at a number of decisions made by Mourinho at the helm – namely how he has treated both Gareth Bale and Dele Alli this season.

Facing a potential decision, Tottenham look set to assess Mourinho as the 2020/2021 campaign goes on – and he is expected to have until the end of the season at least.
