# Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy could strike gold with PSG winger Julian Draxler

**As Leeds United reportedly contact previous Tottenham target Julian Draxler over a possible move ([RMC Sport](https://mobile.twitter.com/mohamedbouhafsi/status/1303341013801500676)), chairman Daniel Levy is in danger of missing out on a potential solution to Spurs’ search for a world-class winger, with the World Cup winner looking like a bargain valued at [£21.6m by Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-draxler/profil/spieler/85148)**

Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking to the [Last Word on Spurs podcast last week](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/summer-transfer-window-ft-fabrizio-romano/id1281903552?i=1000489871646), detailed that the Lilywhites are in search of a wide attacker as well as a centre-back and striker.

Even though Levy may be prioritising the latter position, especially to seek an extra option going forward alongside Harry Kane, Paris-Saint Germain star Draxler could be their answer on the flank.

Targeted by ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and the club back in 2019, as detailed by [L’Équipe via Football.London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/spurs-news-transfers-live-roles-16384063), the German ace can also play in a central attacking midfield role, potentially solving two key issues for Jose Mourinho.

Able to contribute out wide and through the middle, Draxler could be a star option as well as a would-be answer to the lack of creativity from the middle of the park after Christian Eriksen’s departure.

Coming off the back of a disappointing 2019/20 season, perhaps marred by an [early pre-season injury](https://psgtalk.com/2020/05/grading-psg-arsenal-transfer-target-receives-low-grade-after-disappointing-season-in-paris/), Draxler struggled to fight his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s plans, potentially lowering his market value.

However, he did manage to start 22 Ligue 1 games in the previous campaign, averaging [1.4 completed dribbles per match](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96449/History/Julian-Draxler) – even more than current Spurs winger Erik Lamela ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Archive/England-Tottenham)).

Draxler also made [more key passes in 2018/19](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96449/History/Julian-Draxler) than Eriksen managed in his [last season at Spurs](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Archive/England-Tottenham), pointing to a viable attacking solution.

Whether or not Levy reignites his interest in the 26-year-old remains to be seen, but he could be quite a coup if Spurs make a serious move for him.
