# Tottenham: Thomas breaks Gakpo transfer development

**Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has now shared some interesting [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) transfer news on a brand new target in PSV Eindhoven sensation Cody Gakpo.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs eye moves…

The trio of already-completed deals in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissoiuma are reliably believed to be followed by yet more before the 2022/2023 [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) season begins.

As [reported,](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/yves-bissouma-tottenham-transfer-confirmed-b1006864.html) manager Antonio Conte wants to bring in a right-wing-back, central defensive star and new forward before beginning pre-season and attempting to build upon Tottenham’s find end to 21/22.

Their top four finish has granted them the riches of Champions League football and a [£150 million equity increase](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfers-bastoni-bremer-kostic-perisic-carrasco-tielemans-jesus-b1002640.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1653590315) from ENIC with those funds now being used to back Conte in the summer market.

### The Latest: Thomas makes Gakpo claim…

According to Thomas, some interesting Spurs news has emerged as Fabio Paratici and co make contact to sign a brand new target.

He explained (via [Twitter):](https://twitter.com/SkySportsLyall/status/1540310670805274624)

*“#Spurs have also inquired about #PSV’s Cody Gakpo, I can exclusively reveal, but he is one of many #Netherlands players told by Louis van Gaal he must be playing regularly to get in the #WorldCup2022 squad.”*

### The Verdict: Make the move?

Called a ‘[sensational player](https://twitter.com/MichaelJBell09/status/1523379440171974656)‘ by football-oranje.com editor and Dutch football expert Michael Bell, the 23-year-old has stood out as a very exciting player for PSV.

Indeed, Gakpo finished 21/22 in real style as their top goal scorer with 12 and assist-provider with a head-turning 13 ([WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/129/Show/Netherlands-PSV-Eindhoven).

The Netherlands ace also, unsurprisingly, ranked in as PSV’s best-performer by average match rating – having even attempted more shots at goal, made a higher number of key passes and completed the most dribbles per 90 out of their squad ([WhoScored).](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/129/Show/Netherlands-PSV-Eindhoven)

It’s little wonder Gakpo has turned Paratici’s head and is now a target for Spurs.
