# Tottenham: Italian journalist shares big Bremer update

**A significant update has come to light in [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/)‘s chase to sign Torino defender and colossal Serie A centre-half Gleison Bremer.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs in defender chase…

Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte is seeking to rebuild the Spurs squad in his own image after guiding them to a top-four [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) finish last season.

The Italian has overseen quite a remarkable N17 transformation and their qualification for next season’s Champions League campaign is a major boost for the club both financially and on the field.

ENIC have subsequently granted the north Londoners a [£150 million equity increase](https://theathletic.com/3331260/2022/05/25/tottenham-hotspurs-150m-capital-increase/) which will be used to back Conte and support his major overhaul.

A centre-back is[said to be firmly on the agenda](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/yves-bissouma-tottenham-transfer-confirmed-b1006864.html) as news emerges on transfer target Bremer.

### The Latest: Tottenham ready imminent bid…

According to journalist Claudio Raimondi of Sport Media Set, via [Inter-News.it](https://www.inter-news.it/calciomercato/bremer-mette-pole-inter-torino-punta-carte-tottenham/)and [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/claim-tottenham-will-soon-present-offer-defender-club-betting-strongly-spurs-bid/), a significant update has arisen as Torino club chief Urbano Cairo banks on Spurs moving for his Brazilian gem.

Cairo is ‘waiting’ for a battle between Inter and Spurs, and is ‘betting all his chips’ on the Premier League club coming forward

The journalist further claims that Conte’s side ‘will soon present an offer’ as they ready a bid to sign Bremer, although Inter remain in pole position.

### The Verdict: Get it done?

Facing stiff competition from the Nerazzurri, there is little denying that Torino’s star defender could be worth the tussle.

Bremer stood out as one of the Italian top flight’s best central defenders last season, averaging more interceptions per 90 than any other Serie A player whilst making the joint-fifth most clearances ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/108/Tournaments/5/Seasons/8735/Stages/19982/PlayerStatistics/Italy-Serie-A-2021-2022)).

The 25-year-old has also been called ‘[incredible’](https://www.givemesport.com/88018366-tottenham-incredible-21m-target-will-leave-amid-hotspur-way-links) by Calcio football expert Conor Clancy and we believe Tottenham could solve Conte’s centre-back issue with his addition.
