# Tottenham Hotspur: Antonio Rudiger attracting Spurs’ interest as Chelsea open to loan deal

**According to an update from [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12084753/antonio-rudiger-tottenham-interested-in-chelsea-defender), Tottenham are interested in a move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger as chairman Daniel Levy eyes a [sixth summer signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/transfers/verein/148/saison_id/2020), with the player and club reportedly open to agreeing a potential loan deal.**

Rudiger, who is allegedly looking to garner some [much-needed playing time](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/104010/History/Antonio-R%C3%BCdiger) with a temporary loan spell out of Stamford Bridge, could fall into Spurs’ transfer remit as loan-to-buy arrangements appear to be in serious consideration.

Tottenham have been in negotiations over a deal for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar since last week, as per [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1308515248652144640), but this latest Sky update has hinted that the Lilywhites may be put off by the Serie A club’s lofty asking price.

With Tottenham reportedly in the market for alternatives, Rudiger has emerged as a potential candidate who could help to shore up Spurs’ defence as a gruelling and congested 2020/21 Premier League season gets underway.

Chelsea had set a price tag of around [£22.7m](https://ojbsport.com/2020/09/25/chelsea-set-to-part-ways-with-antonio-rudiger/) but are also willing to consider loan offers, giving Levy a chance to avoid paying that sum whilst finding a quick fix to Tottenham’s defensive issues.

The [6ft 3](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antonio-rudiger/profil/spieler/86202) powerhouse, who has been [left on the fringes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-chelsea/leistungsdaten/verein/631) due to Kurt Zouma’s preference and the signing of Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, could be on his way out of west London to pastures new – and Spurs may well be a viable option given their presence in the capital.

Whether or not Tottenham go all-in for Rudiger remains to be seen, but he could be a serious option to consider.
