# Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs could ‘accelerate’ plans to sign attacker

**[Transfer expert Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) has claimed that [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) could ‘accelerate’ plans to sign an attacker in the January window after Richarlison’s injury.**

### The Lowdown: Out for weeks

As per [BB](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63963883)[C](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63963883)[Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63963883), Richarlison is expected to be out for weeks after picking up an injury in Brazil’s quarter-final loss to Croatia at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The striker has already [missed games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/378710/plus/0?saison=&verein=148&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) this season for Spurs with a calf injury, and with Dejan Kulusevski also missing a large chunk of the campaign with a [thigh problem](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-kulusevski/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/431755/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=), it has left Antonio Conte’s side a little short in forward areas at times.

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88096176-tottenham-transfer-plans-richarlison-hotspur-way), Jones has claimed that Richarlison’s injury may ‘accelerate’ plans to sign a new attacker in January:

*“It might accelerate that need for one more attack-minded player. That’s what I’m told we really need to look out for now.”*

### The Verdict: Exciting

The fact that the North London club are seemingly going in for a new attacker in January should excite supporters.

They have scored [31](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) goals in the Premier League, but [12](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Show/England-Tottenham) of those have come from Harry Kane, and with injuries to other attackers, Conte could do with another option up top.

They have been linked with moves for the likes of Juventus’ [Federico Chiesa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/premier-league-spurs-antonio-conte-federico-chiesa-latest-transfer-rumours/) and FC Barcelona’s [Memphis Depay](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-memphis-depay-transfer-rumours/), so it will be interesting to see who the Lilywhites go for in January to cover for Richarlison in his absence.
