# Tottenham: Journalist shares contact for Maddison

**Journalist Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport, has made a promising [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) transfer claim involving Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.**

### The Lowdown: Paratici eyeing attacker?

After sealing a plethora of deals already this summer transfer window, despite seemingly[focusing on outgoings this week](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-djed-spence-tanganga-bryan-gil-b1013249.html), it is believed that Spurs may not be done in trying to bring more players through the door.

Indeed, [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-djed-spence-tanganga-bryan-gil-b1013249.html) suggest that while sales are currently priority, sporting director Fabio Paratici could yet target another central defender and creative attacker for manager Antonio Conte.

Foxes star Maddison has been [mooted](https://www.givemesport.com/88035715-tottenham-now-like-110k-a-week-attacking-midfielder-at-hotspur-way) as a [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) target recently with reporter Jones now hinting that the Lilywhites could well pull a deal off before deadline day.

### The Latest: Jones drops Maddison hint…

Speaking to [GMS,](https://www.givemesport.com/88036804-tottenham-have-touched-base-over-110k-a-week-premier-league-star) the journalist claims Spurs have made contact over Maddison, who would come at a marquee cost, but a deal for the player ‘would not be impossible’.

He explained:

*“I’m told Spurs have touched base over Maddison and a deal would not be impossible but it would cost them a lot of money. Probably more than they would want to spend. But you never know, the door isn’t closed.”*

### The Verdict: Make the move?

Described as ‘[unplayable](https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/2511160)‘ on his day by pundit and former Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, the Englishman would be a stellar capture for Spurs on top of an already impressive window.

According to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/14/Show/England-Leicester), Maddison stood out as manager Brendan Rodgers’ best-performing regular over 2021/2022 whilst making more key passes per 90 than any of his teammates.

The 25-year-old’s productivity in the final third is further backed by his[12 goals and eight assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/14/Show/England-Leicester) last campaign, and depending on the specific price tag, Maddison may well be worth the effort to sign.
