# Tottenham: Insider makes promising Djed Spence transfer claim

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) ‘insider’ John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his [Lilywhites Rose social media channels](https://twitter.com/Lilywhite_Rose/status/1439119178980528128), has made a promising transfer claim involving right wing-back target Djed Spence.**

### The Lowdown: Spence targeted…

After transfer chief Fabio Paratici failed to seal a deal for the [Championship](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/championship-news/) starlet in January, with [multiple late bids lodged](https://twitter.com/jamesolley/status/1488158834166280193?s=21) to no avail, it is reliably believed that Spurs will be back in the mix.

[Tottenham latest developments!](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/)

[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/05/23/exclusive-tottenham-hotspur-offer-antonio-conte-six-summer-signings/?utm_content=sport&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1653323806-1) list Spence as one of many targets for the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) club, while [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-spence-early-talks/) even claimed that the north Londoners have ‘opened preliminary talks’ to sign the 21-year-old.

They apparently view the Middlesbrough defender, who is currently excelling on loan at Nottingham Forest, as a ‘top target’, with the Spurs insider now sharing what he has heard.

### The Latest: Spence ‘99% going to happen’…

According to Wenham, who was speaking to [Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/expert-djed-spences-move-to-tottenham-is-99-going-to-happen-as-sources-reveal-fee/) a deal for Spence is ‘99% going to happen’.

He added that the mooted £10m fee for his services is a ‘no-brainer’, describing it as ‘great’ news for Spurs that they’re moving to try and seal a move early.

Wenham stated: *“I think Spence is 99% going to happen.* *That’s what I am hearing and the fee is actually really reasonable as well.*

*“It’s around £10million. That’s a no-brainer, thank you very much. He’s the one a lot of clubs have been linked with.*

*“So it sounds like we are getting a really good deal and getting it done early which is great to see.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done…

Described as a player who [‘massively fits the bill for Conte’,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-news-massive-djed-spence-claim-issued-by-expert-after-incredible-update/#:~:text=Djed%20Spence%20is%20%E2%80%9Cready%20for,at%20Nottingham%20Forest%20this%20term.) we believe that Spence’s numbers over 2021/22 certainly back this theory.

An attack-minded wing-back, the 21-year-old has averaged Forest’s third-highest amount of successful take-ons per 90 whilst also delivering the joint-second most crosses from out wide – all whilst becoming a mainstay under Steve Cooper with 40 Championship starts ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/174/Show/England-Nottingham-Forest)).

The English youngster’s prospective capture could also go some way to solving the Lilywhites’ current [homegrown quota issue](https://www.givemesport.com/87998301-tottenham-concerned-by-crazy-situation-at-hotspur-way) as they urgently need to balance the books, making this update a positive one indeed.
