# Celtic: Steve Hitchen close to Parkhead move

**[Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/) are close to bringing Steve Hitchen to Parkhead, according to [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/9613370/tottenham-liverpool-talent-scout-close-joining-celtic-ange-postecoglou/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1665873922).**

### The Lowdown: Hitchen profiled

Tottenham [announced](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2022/february/club-statement-steve-hitchen/) in February that the 45-year-old left his role in north London as Technical Performance Director.

Hitchen returned to the club in 2017 after previously working as a scout in north London between [2005 and 2010](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2022/february/club-statement-steve-hitchen/) and was [linked](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/feb/02/steve-hitchen-quits-spurs-recruitment-role-amid-everton-interest) with both Everton and Newcastle earlier this year. However, it looks as if the experienced director of football and scout could be heading to the Scottish [Premiership](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/scottish-premiership-news/) champions.

### The Latest: Hitchen to Celtic getting ‘close’

[The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/9613370/tottenham-liverpool-talent-scout-close-joining-celtic-ange-postecoglou/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1665873922)’s Ryan Rowe shared news from Celtic Park on Saturday evening regarding Hitchen.

He claimed that the 45-year-old watched the Hoops in action last week and could now work in an advisory role alongside Ange Postecoglou, describing a move as ‘close’ to being finalised.

### The Verdict: Good news

[Rowe](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/9613370/tottenham-liverpool-talent-scout-close-joining-celtic-ange-postecoglou/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1665873922) added that a move for Hitchen ‘would also help keep Postecoglou happy and away from potential suitors’, which can only be viewed as good news.

The Celtic manager has been mooted as a [target](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11237073/Ange-Postecoglou-opens-rumours-hes-headhunted-Premier-League-job-Celtic-Leicester.html) for Premier League clubs, so if he is on board with bringing Hitchen to Scotland, it should be a no-brainer.

Hitchen had plenty of success with Spurs and was labelled as [‘fantastic’](https://expressdigest.com/it-was-a-fantastic-job-pochettino-praises-scout-steven-hitchen-for-advising-club-to-sign-moura/) by Mauricio Pochettino after advising Tottenham to sign Lucas Moura in 2018, so he could help the Bhoys as they look to go from strength to strength under Postecoglou.
