Sunderland are reportedly eyeing up a potential double swoop for Bradley Dack and a midfielder in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Back off the mark

The Wearside outfit got back off the mark with a 3-0 win against Millwall in the Championship on Saturday to lift them into the top half of the table, following the break for the World Cup in Qatar.

They will now be looking to strengthen in January to try and push for a play-off spot come the end of the season, with Blackburn Rovers' Dack one reported target for the Black Cats.

The Latest: Double January swoop?

Replying to a supporter on Twitter, reliable journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Sunderland are eyeing a mid-season move for Dack, as well as 'another position'.

The reporter tweeted in relation to Dack: "Main one I heard. But there’s another position also being looked into."

Nixon later revealed that position to be midfield.

The Verdict: Exciting

The fact that Tony Mowbray's side sound like they are going to be quite active in January should be exciting for Sunderland supporters, who will be dreaming of back-to-back promotions and a return to the Premier League.

Dack has excelled in the Championship, with 28 goals and 10 assists in more than 100 games in the division (140 times under Mowbray at Blackburn before.

The 28-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, so he would be an astute signing for the Black Cats.

Adding another midfielder also strengthens Mowbray's options in that area of the park going into the second part of the season, and it could make the Black Cats a real force as they try to make their way further up the Championship table.
