Sunderland journalist James Copley has now shared some positive injury news involving Edouard Michut.

The Lowdown: Minor setback

Michut reportedly suffered a minor injury setback after joining from PSG on loan in the summer transfer window, but is now back in training.

However, he is still yet to make a first-team appearance at the Stadium of Light, but it seems as if he could now feature for the U21s.

The Latest: Could get minutes

Taking to Twitter, Copley has shared that Michut, as well as both Bailey Wright and Alex Bass, 'could get minutes' in Friday evening's U21 game against Middlesbrough:

"Sunderland confirm that Edouard Michut, Bailey Wright and Alex Bass could get minutes for the under-21 game against Middlesbrough on Friday evening."

The Verdict: Big boost before Preston

It will certainly be a big boost for Tony Mowbray and his team if Michut is able to get some minutes for the U21s before the senior side return to action after the international break.

They are set to play Preston North End in the Championship in their first match back, and with Michut potentially getting minutes for the U21s coupled up with the fact that he is back in training, Wearsiders could finally see him make his senior debut.

Having played eight times already for French giants PSG by the age of 19, the attacking midfielder came to the Black Cats with a lot of promise, and if he can fulfil his potential on Wearside his return to fitness will be a massive boost for Mowbray and the club.
