Sunderland have reportedly 'opened talks' over the potential signing of PSG attacking midfielder Edouard Michut.

The Lowdown: Rising star

At just 19 years of age and already playing for a big club in PSG, Michut is a real rising star in the game.

He has already featured eight times in a senior team that boasts the attacking talents of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, making one assist, and has scored twice in ten appearances at youth level for the French giants (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Talks opened

Taking to Twitter, Italian football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Stadium of Light outfit have 'opened talks' over a potential deal to sign Michut, adding that he is their 'dream signing' for midfield:

"Sunderland have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Edouard Michut. He’s their dream signing for the midfield.

"Talks will continue as there are many clubs interested in Michut since June."

The Verdict: Real coup

If Alex Neil's side are able to lure Michut from PSG to the Championship, it would certainly be a real coup.

As Romano states, there are several other clubs that are interested in his signature, so they would do well to get him to sign on the dotted line.

The Black Cats only really have Alex Pritchard as a natural attacking midfielder in their squad at the moment, and so could do with strengthening in that area of the pitch before the transfer window closes.

Nonetheless, this is a deal that should get the supporters very excited.
