Italian football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sunderland have made a bid for PSG attacking midfielder Edouard Michut.

The Lowdown: Advanced talks

Taking to Twitter this morning, journalist Pete O'Rourke revealed that the Stadium of Light outfit are in 'advanced talks' to sign Michut.

They are 'confident' of pulling off a 'major coup' by securing his signature before the transfer window closes.

The Latest: Bid made

Following up on O'Rourke's update, Romano revealed that the Wearside club have now made an official bid for Michut, although it has been rejected by PSG:

"Paris Saint-Germain have rejected new proposal from Sunderland for Edouard Michut, still no agreement in place.

"Been told English club were offering €3m fixed fee plus add-ons and 30% sell-on clause also included."

The Verdict: Exciting

It is certainly exciting that Alex Neil's side are even in for a player from Ligue 1 champions and European heavyweights PSG, let alone a player as talented as Michut.

Dubbed their 'dream signing' by Romano, he has already featured eight times in a senior team that boasts the attacking talents of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, supplying one assist, and has scored twice in ten games at youth level (Transfermarkt).

Nonetheless, Michut is still only 19 years of age, and so will clearly be some player in the future.

Thus, if the Black Cats are able to sign him at this stage in his career, then he could really develop into a top-class player and potentially bank a hefty profit for the club later on.
