Sunderland: Media wowed as Black Cats miss big chances -Sunderland News

Members of the media were left wowed as Sunderland failed to score from two big chances in the second half of their game at home to Norwich City in the Championship.

The Lowdown: Points dropped

It will ultimately feel like huge points dropped for the hosts in a game where they had so many chances to score.

In the end, the visitors punished them with a late goal from Josh Sargent, which darkened the mood around Wearside further following the news that Alex Neil is set to become the new manager at Stoke City.

The Latest: Media wowed

Taking to Twitter after the Black Cats missed two big chances to score in the second half within a matter of seconds, journalist and SAFC supporter Josh Bunting was left questioning how they could possibly not put the ball in the back of the net:

“How have we not scored there, how has that stayed out? Ross Stewart hits the bar and then again somehow Hanley is there to block it on the line. Superb defending again from Hanley, ball just won’t go into the net for Sunderland.”

The Sunderland Echo journalist James Copley echoed Bunting’s frustration, even going as far as to call it ‘madness’:

“So close from Sunderland as Stewart hits the bar and Pritch fails to turn home the rebound. No idea how we aren’t 1-0 up. Madness.”

The Verdict: Ultimate frustration

The missed opportunities will come as the ultimate frustration for the Black Cats supporters, especially considering what’s happened in the last 48 hours, with a victory here the only real way to put a silver lining on things.

Should Sunderland have kept Neil?

Yes

No

No

What made matters worse is that the Canaries ended up scoring clinically when they got their chance, and the players will now have to pick themselves up and prove themselves to whoever comes in to replace Neil.
