Some Sunderland fans have been left raging at a few comments made by Lee Johnson relating to why he chose to take the manager’s job at the Stadium of Light.
“I was sat at home, in discussions with a couple of other clubs, and Sunderland came in. They blew me away with their plans.”
Should Donald leave Sunderland?
Given that SAFC have been stuck in the EFL League One for the past three consecutive terms now, perhaps the comments from Johnson are confusing, given that Sunderland’s plans have not exactly been successful in getting out of the third tier in the last few years.
With the proposed takeover of the Black Cats reportedly just around the corner, supporters in the North East will be hoping that their club can finally get back on track and eventually move back up to the Premier League, where they feel they belong. But for now, things are looking rather glum with Sunderland currently sitting only in ninth place in the table at the moment.
Sunderland fan reaction to Johnson comments
These fans were not exactly thrilled upon reading the comments from Johnson on Twitter:
I’d feel much more comfortable if the owners shared these ‘mind blowing plans’ with the fans. Feel like they have deliberately dis-engaged with the people who make or break their investment. Treating the fans with contempt will not end well.

Yes- this plan will be much easier not to deliver than the last plan we didn’t deliver
