Many Sunderland fans applauded the performance of midfielder Aiden McGeady during his side’s 2-0 win against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.
The 34-year-old started on the left-hand side as the Irishman shone once more at the Stadium of Light, providing the assist for Aiden O’Brien’s opener before Max Power sealed the deal with eight minutes to spare.
McGeady has been one of Sunderland’s most in-form players in February and continued that trend as he played provider to his teammates.
Per Fotmob, McGeady made four successful dribbles, won four duels, made two ball recoveries and accumulated a pass success rate of 81%.
Is Aiden McGeady an automatic starter for Sunderland?
Unsurprisingly, supporters were delighted with McGeady’s outing and flocked to social media regarding their feelings for him.
McGeady pleases these Black Cats fans
“God I love McGeady so much”
“It’s hard to pinpoint the highlight of last nights game. Winning without relying on a Wyke goal. McGeady again showing his value. The defence looking solid. The midfield pretty much dominant. But KLD leaving Donald apologists in no doubt he was bleeding the club dry tops it.”
“If we don’t get promoted this season it’s all on Parkinson’s inability to get McGeady on the pitch. The bloke is the best player in the league. No coincidence our turn in form is a fully fit McGeady”
“Aiden McGeady is that good he had an assist in his own birth”
“Sanderson and Mcgeady class yet again”
“Aiden McGeady is 36 and looks fitter than ever. Fair play to Parky for managing his fitness levels”
