Many Sunderland fans were left blasting Josh Scowen as he missed a chance in injury time that could have earned his side a draw against Plymouth Argyle.
As per a tweet from the official Twitter page of the Stadium of Light faithful, the central midfield player blazed his shot over the bar after a pull-back from Aiden O’Brien in stoppage time with the score at 2-1, and if he was more accurate with his shot, he may well have earned Lee Johnson’s men a point from the game.
Should Scowen start for Sunderland?
With the Black Cats currently in ninth spot in the EFL League One table on 33 points from 21 games (BBC), and therefore outside of the promotion places, they surely cannot afford many more slip-ups from now until the end of the 2020/21 term if they want to get promoted up to the Championship, and chances like the one that Scowen missed may end up costing them dearly further down the line.
Sunderland fan reaction to Scowen miss
These SAFC supporters blasted him on Twitter after the miss, with one fan even going as far as to claim that the 27-year-old is ‘not good enough’ to play for the club.
“Please never play him again”
“Honestly does he think it’s a rugby goal!!! Absolutely terrible shot attempts”
“I’m sorry but Scowen isn’t good enough”
“Not good enough”
“Scowen has blazed over the bar more than he has scored this season.”
“Why’s Scowen still on?”
