Sunderland: Fans slate Jack Diamond for his performance against Shrewsbury

Sunderland: Fans slate Jack Diamond for his performance against Shrewsbury - Sunderland News

Many Sunderland fans were not pleased with Jack Diamond after his performance against Shrewsbury in their League One tie.

The winger had played nine times in the division for the Black Cats before the game this weekend and has scored one goal and provided three assists (Transfermarkt). However, it seems like many fans do not believe he was anywhere close to good enough against Shrewsbury, with one supporter calling his performance ‘poor’ while others worried about his end product.

He is only 21 and is a product of the academy at the Stadium of Light, which puts more pressure on him as fans always love players who emerge from their academy and are desperate for them to succeed.

Sunderland are currently right in the thick of the play-off race, so manager Lee Johnson can’t afford to give players who play poorly too many chances, even if it is a young player with plenty of potential to succeed in the future.
