Sunderland: Alan Nixon drops Nathan Broadhead claim

Sunderland: Alan Nixon drops Nathan Broadhead claim -Championship News

Reliable journalist Alan Nixon says Sunderland likely still need ‘another striker’ amid links to Everton’s Nathan Broadhead.

The Lowdown: Broadhead’s next steps

The forward spent last season out on loan at the Stadium of Light, where he hugely impressed, playing a significant role in the Black Cats achieving promotion to the Championship.

It’s recently been reported that the Toffees have offered the 24-year-old a new contract in a bid to keep him at Goodison Park after interest from Wearside was reignited, though a loan move could still be completed this summer regardless.

The Latest: Nixon’s update

Asked by a fan whether Sunderland are still chasing Broadhead’s signature, Nixon hinted at Broadhead or indeed another forward coming in:

“Could do with another striker … but no guarantee of a game …”

Sunderland manager Alex Neil celebrates a League One victory

Sunderland fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the 21/22 season?

The Verdict: Bring him back

Alex Neil will be hoping to bolster his ranks with further attacking options to provide competition and cover for Ross Stewart, and after completing the permanent signing of Jack Clarke, Broadhead would surely be a player who would also be welcomed back with open arms.

During his time at Sunderland last season, the Welshman netted 13 goals across all competitions and was a star performer in League One, with his performances having a massive hand in the Black Cats making it all the way to the play-off final.

Should Sunderland bring back Broadhead?

Albeit temporarily, a return to the northeast is very much a possibility, and the boss would surely have no hesitation in getting Broadhead back if the right opportunity was to arise in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
