Sunderland attackers Chris Maguire, Will Grigg and Charlie Wyke have been handed some interesting odds to finish top scorer in League One this coming season.
Black Cats boss Phil Parkinson is under increasing pressure to ensure Sunderland gain promotion from League One to the Championship this term.
A second consecutive failure to gain promotion saw the likes of Grigg and Wyke struggle to find consistent form last season, whilst Maguire did produce some good form.
Heading into the new season, Parkinson is yet to bolster his striker options and it does look like Maguire, Grigg and Wyke will continue to lead the line at the Stadium of Light.
Looking ahead to next term, Sunderland Echo have now revealed the odds placed on the aforementioned trio to finish top scorer in England’s third tier.
Maguire is set at 40/1, Wyke is 28/1, whilst surprisingly, Grigg has been handed the lowest odds of the trio (11/1) to finish the league’s top scorer.
One player linked with a potential move to Wearside is Danny Graham, and it has now been confirmed that the former Blackburn Rovers man has begun training at the Academy of Light.
Grigg will have to undergo a massive turnaround in form if he is to finish the league’s top scorer.
Indeed the £1.08m-valued man has scored just eight times for the club in 49 appearances to date. That said, he has won the Golden Boot in the third tier before, so you can never write him off and his history in the division is probably the reason for his lower odds.
Should Danny Graham arrive at the Stadium of Light, you would have to feel that he would instantly become the club’s favourite to finish top scorer.
