Chronicle LIVE have identified two potential candidates to replace former Head of Recruitment Tony Coton, who left his role last week.
Life at the Stadium of Light is full of doubt and controversy at the moment with the club having missed out on promotion to the Championship from League One for a second consecutive season.
Matched with such takeover talk has been the decision of academy manager Paul Reid, Richard Hill and Head of Recruitment Coton to leave the club.
Guy Branston and Craig Dean are now reportedly being lined up to come in and offer a fresh approach in regards to the club’s recruitment strategy.
Both have plenty of experience with Branston currently serving as loan manager for Leicester City’s U18-U23 sides, whilst Dean is currently working for newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United.
Whilst two candidates have emerged for the vacant role, Sunderland are still yet to find a new academy manager, despite advertising the job via their official website.
It is good to see candidates are already being lined up but Sunderland need to speed up getting the right people in.
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and they simply cannot afford to head into the summer months unprepared. It is a huge window for the Black Cats, who must get recruitment right in order to gain promotion and avoid a fourth straight season in League One.
