Sunderland: Black Cats vying with Swansea for Adam Asghar -Sunderland News

Sunderland are reportedly vying with one of their rivals in the Championship to secure the services of coach Adam Asghar.

The Lowdown: Highly regarded

Asghar is held at high regard as an upcoming young coach, having taken up roles at the tender age of just 28.

Hailed as ‘really good’ with ‘brilliant enthusiasm’ by Dundee United interim manager Liam Fox, Asghar has recently left his role at the Scottish Premiership club, so he is available for a new challenge.

The Latest: Sunderland talks for Ashgar

As per journalist Alan Nixon, Sunderland are in talks over bringing Asghar in as part of their backroom staff, but they face competition from Swansea City.

The Black Cats want him to take on a role in the development side of the club, the area in which he was involved at Dundee United.

The Verdict: Smart prospective appointment

After hiring Tony Mowbray as their new manager, bringing in Asghar to work alongside him and the other staff members would appear to be a smart appointment by Sunderland.

As per Dundee United’s official website, he played a significant role in the development of key academy players as Head Coach of their under-18s before being promoted to First Team Coach in 2021.

Asghar helped the transition of several young players, with as many as 16 academy graduates making the step up to play for the Scottish club’s first team.

There seems no doubt that he could have a similar impact at the Black Cats, which would do wonders for their own academy.
