# Sunderland: Fans happy with George Dobson exit

**Sunderland fans have been reacting to the news that George Dobson has joined AFC Wimbledon on loan until the end of the season.**

\[freshpress-quiz id=”306218″\]

Dobson made the move to the Stadium of Light from Walsall in July 2019, and he has failed to make a real impact at the club. Last season, he did make 29 appearances in League One, but he has been included in the starting line-up in the league just five times this term ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/george-dobson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/292734)), and it was clear that he was not a big part of Lee Johnson’s plans moving forward.

The 23-year-old has [come in for criticism](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/league-one/sunderland/sunderland-fans-slam-george-dobson-for-his-latest-performance/) in the past from the club’s supporters, and it is fair to say that they are quite happy to see him go. The news was [announced on the club’s official Twitter account](https://twitter.com/SunderlandAFC/status/1352707752427204608), and the fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
