# Sunderland: Wealdstone manager makes Dennon Lewis admission

**Wealdstone manager Dean Brennan has told [West London Sport](https://www.westlondonsport.com/non-league/wealdstone-boss-brennan-on-dennon-lewis-charlton-inrerest) that Sunderland and Charlton-linked forward Dennon Lewis is desperate for a move to the English Football League.**

[The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11986089/charlton-love-island-dennon-lewis/) reported earlier this summer that Black Cats manager Phil Parkinson had joined a whole host of clubs with interest in Lewis, who shot to fame after appearing on the 2019 summer edition of *Love Island*, where he was [dumped after just four days.](https://loveisland.fandom.com/wiki/Dennon_Lewishttps://loveisland.fandom.com/wiki/Dennon_Lewis)

Lewis netted an impressive [14 goals and provided 11 assists](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11986089/charlton-love-island-dennon-lewis/) during the 2019/2020 season which ultimately helped Wealdstone win the National League South title.

Speaking on the striker’s future ahead of his side’s return to the National League, Brennan said:

*“It’s still a little bit up in the air at the moment.*

*“You understand from the player’s point of view that ideally he’d like a move. It is frustrating, I can’t lie. Ideally you just want the situation sorted out but I’m afraid it’s part of the business.*

*“There’s no bid that’s come in for the player, so I don’t know what (the interested clubs) are thinking, whether they want to sign Dennon or not.”*

The 23-year-old initially began his football career with Championship side Watford before embarking on [spells](https://www.transfermarkt.com/dennon-lewis/leistungsdaten/spieler/451304) with Woking, Crawley Town, Falkirk and Bromley.

It’s difficult to say whether this move will materialise. Sunderland would be taking a huge gamble on the winger, who has had success in non-league but is relatively [inexperienced in the Football League](https://www.transfermarkt.com/dennon-lewis/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/451304).

His desire to play in England’s top tiers is understandable, though, and if he can continue his impressive form for Wealdstone in a higher league, then a move to a League One or League Two club could happen.
