# Sunderland: Fans react to Benji Kimpioka transfer news

**Sunderland [confirmed](https://www.safc.com/news/academy-news/2021/october/kimpioka-returns-from-southend) on Thursday that forward Benji Kimpioka has returned to the club from Southend United.**

And, as to be expected, a number of Black Cats supporters have been reacting to the transfer news on social media.

Kimpioka made the move to Roots Hall at the end of [September](https://www.southendunited.co.uk/news/2021/september/kimpioka-joins-blues-on-loan/) on a month-long loan. He made just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-mbunga-kimpioka/leistungsdaten/spieler/433652) appearances during that time and has now [returned](https://www.safc.com/news/academy-news/2021/october/kimpioka-returns-from-southend) to Sunderland’s Under-23 squad.

The 21-year-old’s contract at the Stadium of Light expires at the [end of the season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-mbunga-kimpioka/profil/spieler/433652) and he is yet to add to his 14 senior appearances for Sunderland during the current campaign.

Kimpioka, a [Sweden Under-21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-mbunga-kimpioka/profil/spieler/433652), also struggled out on loan with Torquay United last season, with his last senior goal coming back in [November 2019](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-mbunga-kimpioka/leistungsdaten/spieler/433652/plus/0?saison=2019) against Coventry City.
