Sunderland are back in the Premier League — and if their summer transfer activity is anything to go by, they have no intention of heading back down.
The Black Cats have been one of the busiest clubs in England this window, rivalled perhaps only by Chelsea or Liverpool. No fewer than seven new faces have arrived at the Stadium of Light, including Simon Adingra from Brighton, the high-profile capture of Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen, and Reinildo Mandava from Atlético Madrid.
They also broke their club transfer record to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg — a signal of serious intent from new head coach Régis Le Bris, who is blending proven experience with high-upside youth.
But despite the heavy investment, one area remains relatively untouched: the front line. That, however, could be about to change.
Sunderland Enquire About Chelsea’s Marc Guiu

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland have enquired about signing Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on a season-long loan.
The 18-year-old joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer and made a solid impression in his first campaign, scoring six goals in 16 appearances across all competitions.
Guiu’s Europa League performances especially caught the eye, with former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole calling him “unbelievable” and even comparing him to Luis Suarez.
“He’s got that instinct and bravery. He’s thinking ‘I’m going to gamble’ and he commits at full pace,” Cole said. “I think he can go all the way.”
Romano reports that Chelsea are open to loaning out Guiu, provided his full wages are covered and the deal includes no buy clause, as the Blues see him as a long-term asset.
Sunderland are one of three clubs to enquire about the teenager, but are confident they can offer him the platform to grow through consistent Premier League minutes.
For a club eager to cement their place in the top flight, and a player looking to make his mark in English football, this could be a perfect match.
