Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/RokerReport/status/1531948088369217536) on Wednesday, Roker Report shared a [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10874513/Wolves-defender-Dion-Sanderson-tracked-Sheffield-United-Sunderland.html) article linking Sanderson with a return to play under Alex Neil.

[Roker Report](https://twitter.com/RokerReport/status/1531948088369217536) were clearly delighted with the news, proclaiming “Yes please!”

According to the [Daily Mail’s report](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10874513/Wolves-defender-Dion-Sanderson-tracked-Sheffield-United-Sunderland.html), Sunderland tried to sign the youngster several times after his successful loan spell at the club, and are now facing competition from Sheffield United, who went after him in January.

### **The Verdict: Great signing**

Sanderson could be a great signing for Neil given his experience in the Championship; having featured 36 times in the league, [26 of these appearances came this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dion-sanderson/leistungsdaten/spieler/495993), so the defender should be able to come straight in and perform at the level required upon his arrival at the Stadium of Light.

With [Wolves open to a sale for Sanderson](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10874513/Wolves-defender-Dion-Sanderson-tracked-Sheffield-United-Sunderland.html) as they look to revamp their squad and generate funds for the summer, this is a realistic signing for the Championship side, who will be looking to bring in young talent who can build on the strong foundation built by Neil this term.
