# Sunderland: Lyndon Dykes makes claim about his future amid Black Cats transfer links

**Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes has discussed his future after gaining interest from a number of clubs, including Rangers and Sunderland.**

Black Cats boss Phil Parkinson will have a busy summer ahead as he looks to build a squad at the Stadium of Light capable of gaining promotion to the Championship, with [wholesale changes expected](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-players-contract-out-summer-16424738) this summer.

Dykes, who impressed during the 2019/20 campaign, [netted nine goals and provided eight assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyndon-dykes/profil/spieler/347138) in the Scottish Premiership and he is now gaining much interest with both [Sunderland](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-middlesbrough-celtic-lyndon-dykes) and [Rangers](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-middlesbrough-celtic-lyndon-dykes) said to be keen.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, the 24-year-old has now touched on his future, speaking to [PLZ Soccer](https://twitter.com/PLZSoccer/status/1277255438879174664) (as quoted by [Sunderland Echo](https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/sunderland-afc-transfer-news-live-ps2million-striker-target-drops-telling-hint-over-his-future-plans-2897766)). He said:

*“I back myself 100%, and if I did happen to go anywhere I would do the best I can.*

*“I would learn off the players they have, the manager and once I got in that environment, I’d put my head down and work hard to be that striker that the club needs.”*

Upon hearing of Rangers’ reported interest, [former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie](https://www.footballinsider247.com/can-rangers-afford-him-exclusive-pundit-reacts-to-ibrox-pursuit-of-ace-who-bullied-celtic/) has claimed that the Ibrox club would not be able to afford a move for Dykes.

If Sunderland can afford a deal for Dykes, they should go for it, especially if Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen.

The Black Cats have struggled to find a potent scorer over the last few years, with Charlie Wyke their [top-scoring centre-forward in 2019/20 with only six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/afc-sunderland/leistungsdaten/verein/289), and the Australian could be the perfect choice for Phil Parkinson moving into next season.
