# Sunderland: Marcus Maddison makes transfer admission

**Marcus Maddison has [confirmed](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/marcus-maddison-says-hes-received-18756502) that he has received no offers yet this summer after leaving Peterborough on a free transfer.**

Maddison ended a six-year spell with The Posh which saw him play the final six months on loan at Championship side Hull City.

During his time in England’s second tier, the midfielder was unable to help the Tigers beat off relegation, netting [one goal in seven games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-maddison/profil/spieler/221561), whilst he [scored nine goals and supplied six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-maddison/profil/spieler/221561) for his parent club during the first half of the season.

Available as a free agent, Maddison is claimed to have received interest from Sunderland with [multiple reports](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/marcus-maddison-leaves-peterborough-free-18411577) over the last few months suggesting that the Wearsiders were keen to sign the 26-year-old.

The boyhood Sunderland supporter would seemingly instantly become a fan favourite given his liking of the club but he has confirmed that is yet to receive a formal offer from the Black Cats or any other club.

Responding to a supporter on Instagram, which is quoted by [Coventry LIVE](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/marcus-maddison-says-hes-received-18756502), who asked him to join the club, he wrote on his story: *“To all Sunderland fans, I love the comments, really do appreciate them, but I’ve had no contact from SAFC, or any other club for that matter.*

*“Most unwanted man in football.”*

The lively attack minded midfield man did feature for non-league side Peterborough Sports at the weekend in a [friendly appearance](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/marcus-maddison-says-hes-received-18756502) as he looks to maintain his pre-season fitness.

A good player, a Sunderland man… why have Sunderland not gone all out to make a move for Maddison?

He would make a great addition to Phil Parkinson’s side, providing a good option going forward and that is something the Black Cats certainly need more of in their squad. Indeed, during his time at Peterborough United he scored [62 goals and provided 92 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-maddison/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/221561) in 249 appearances – numbers not to be sniffed at.

Sunderland should be all over this one.
