**He may not have been the biggest name to be linked with Old Trafford this summer, though the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are never too delighted when seeing their side miss out on a potential target.**

Having been linked with a move for highly rated Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford over the past few weeks, the Red Devils propping up the bar were previously waxing poetic over the notion of boasting a goalkeeping department possessing both the England under-21 star and David De Gea.

A burgeoning English talent, the 22-year old was [reportedly](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/517503/Old-Trafford-Man-United-Tottenham-Sunderland-Jordan-Pickford-transfer-news) a target for both the Manchester giants and Tottenham Hotspur, though Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce has since ruled out a move.

Having masterminded their great escape, ‘Big Sam’ is [thought](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3617468/Manchester-United-target-Jordan-Pickford-set-playing-time-Sunderland-Sam-Allardyce-fights-goalkeeper.html) to be keen on keeping a hold of his prize between the posts for the foreseeable future as the Wearside outfit look to end a miserable few years or relegation battles.

According to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3617468/Manchester-United-target-Jordan-Pickford-set-playing-time-Sunderland-Sam-Allardyce-fights-goalkeeper.html), the former Preston North End loan star will be offered a more prominent role next term by Allardyce.

**Will Pickford become England’s Number 1 some day?**
