Sunderland: 135 players appear on list of potential Black Cats signings - Sunderland Transfer Rumours

A report from Chronicle Live has mentioned no fewer than 135 players that could be linked with a move to Sunderland this summer.

Football fans in England are more than familiar with Sunderland’s fall from the Premier League down to League One, having watched Netflix series Sunderland Til I Die.

The Wearsiders have struggled to get themselves back into the Championship and, with the 2019/20 season curtailed, the Black Cats missed out on promotion for the second year in a row.

Manager Phil Parkinson will now look ahead to next season and the summer months are expected to be busy as he looks to bring in a number of new faces.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, Chronicle Live have put together a list of no fewer than 135 players, some of which are going to whet the appetite of the club’s fans.

Those players on the list come from all 20 Premier League teams and are players whose contracts have come to an end, such as Aston Villa’s Callum O’Hare, Everton’s Oumar Niasse and former Black Cats striker Jermain Defoe, who has left Bournemouth.

Another player to appear on the list of players released by clubs in the English top-flight is former Sunderland target Ross McCormack.

Whilst the list may be appealing to Parkinson and some fans of the club, it is hard to see how Sunderland could lure a player who has just been released from a Premier League club.

Their slide into the third tier and subsequent failure to win promotion does not seem to make them an appetising destination for players who have just left top-flight clubs.
