Four Premier League clubs are set to battle it out for the signature of Sunderland youngster Brandon Taylor, according a report by Chronicle LIVE.
With the 2019/2020 season now ended in League One, Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson will look to the summer transfer window in an attempt to build a squad capable of gaining promotion to the Championship having missed out for a second consecutive season.
The Gateshead-born defender failed to make a League One appearance during the 2019/2020 season under Parkinson, but did feature regularly for the club’s under-23 side, making 16 Premier League 2 appearances.
Offered a new deal by Sunderland due to his contract expiring earlier this week, the centre-back is expected to now listen to the reported interest from Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Bournemouth, all linked via TEAMtalk and 90Min.
A potential step-up to the Premier League would prove to hard to turn down for the youngster, even if he does continue to play in the under-23 setup.
Sunderland seem lost at the moment when it comes to who they will have at their service next term and boss Parkinson must be keen to get his squad done and dusted sooner rather than later.
If you were Taylor, given the Black Cats failings, you would be off this summer. That would certainly leave the Sunderland boss with a headache defensively given the other departures of late.
