Sunderland are interested in making a move for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Haydon Roberts, according to The Athletic.
Question marks over Phil Parkinson’s reign in charge of the Black Cats will continue through to the 2020/2021 season after failing to guide the Wearside club from League One to the Championship.
Roberts has now emerged as a potential target with The Athletic claiming a whole host of clubs are keen to make a summer move for the young defender.
The report goes on to add that Sunderland’s interest is being tested by both Wimbledon and Blackpool who are said to be keen to sign the player on loan.
Aside from interest in Roberts, former Everton youngster Morgan Feeney is said to be in talks with Sunderland after a training spell at the Academy of Light.
Whether it is Roberts or Feeney, Phil Parkinson needs to get some transfers in to the Stadium of Light and quickly.
The window is open for an extended period this term, but surely Parkinson must want to shape his squad ahead of the first league fixture, which is set to take place on 12th September.
