Many Sunderland fans were left frustrated after reports emerged regarding unpopular striker Will Grigg.
According to Chronicle journalist James Hunter, the 29-year-old will not be allowed to leave the club unless another striker is brought in before Monday’s deadline.
Grigg, who earns £6k-per-week at the Stadium of Light, has only featured nine times in League One this season, four of which have been starts and he is yet to open his account for the season (Whoscored).
In total, the Northern Ireland international has scored just eight times in 61 appearances, after he was brought to the club in rather dramatic circumstances that were broadcast on the Netflix Documentary ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die.’
Should Sunderland sell Will Grigg?
Unsurprisingly, supporters were not pleased with the club’s stance on Grigg, with many believing that he should be let go – regardless of whether a new face is brought in or not.
Fans fume over Grigg update
“Just let him go! He’s got nothing left on the tank & is just dead weight! He warms a seat on the bench & that’s all he does, let him go & try somewhere else!”
“He’s never really been here so he might as well go for what difference it makes”
“ITS TIME TO GO, ITS TIME TO GO !!”
“Why? He offers nothing. Play a young lad if needed.”
“Why not? He offers nothing, missing sitters”
