# Sunderland: Black Cats unlikely to raise Mateo Bajamich offer

**Sunderland will not improve their transfer bid for Argentine striker Mateo Bajamich, according to [The Northern Echo.](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18741364.sunderland-wont-increasing-offer-mateo-bajamich/)**

After making some changes to his squad this summer, Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson is seemingly keen to add another striker option, with [links to Bajamich emerging](https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2020/9/5/21422195/transfer-exclusive-sunderland-make-bid-for-argentinian-striker) over the past few weeks.

Major League Soccer outfit Houston Dynamo are said to be leading the race to bring in the young forward, with Argentine media outlet [Mundo D](https://mundod.lavoz.com.ar/futbol/lo-ultimo-que-se-sabe-sobre-la-posible-venta-de-bajamich-en-instituto) reporting that a bid has been made by the American club.

Valued at £1.44 by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mateo-bajamich/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/610228), Bajamich currently plays in his homeland for Instituto AC and has scored nine goals in 29 appearances.

With interest from both Dynamo and Sunderland emerging, [Sunderland Echo writer Phil Smith](https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/phil-smiths-sunderland-afc-qa-transfer-latest-explained-and-big-selection-debates-fine-oxford-united-win-2978335) gave his thoughts on a deal. There are [reports](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18741364.sunderland-wont-increasing-offer-mateo-bajamich/) that the Wearsiders have offered £500,000 for Bajamich, whilst Dynamo are claimed to have made an offer in the region of just under £1m.

[The Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18741364.sunderland-wont-increasing-offer-mateo-bajamich/) now claim that the Black Cats will not increase their transfer bid and await whether the young striker wants to move to England or United States.

Parkinson currently has the likes of Danny Graham, Will Grigg and Charlie Wyke available as his centre-forward options, with that trio scoring [three goals between them](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/afc-sunderland/leistungsdaten/verein/289) so far this season.

However, it is doubtful that Sunderland will make an improved offer for Bajamich, given the [tight financial restrictions](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/league-one-two-finances-set-22172828) under which League One clubs are operating.
