# Swansea: Fans react to England under-21 call-ups for Sam Surridge and Ben Wilmot

**Swansea duo Sam Surridge and Ben Wilmot have been called into the England under-21 squad by Aidy Boothroyd for their upcoming games against Slovenia and Austria.**

[TheFA.com](https://www.thefa.com/news/2019/oct/07/england-u21s-squad-update-sam-surridge-ben-wilmot-071019) reported that the Swansea pair, along with Charlton’s Conor Gallagher, had received call-ups following the injury-enforced withdrawals of Morgan Gibbs-White, Reiss Nelson and Mason Greenwood.

Striker Surridge, who is [on loan from Bournemouth](https://www.swanseacity.com/news/swansea-city-complete-sam-surridge-loan-deal), has made [10 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-surridge/leistungsdaten/spieler/398402) and scored [four goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-surridge/leistungsdaten/spieler/398402) so far this season, but three of those strikes [came in the Carabao Cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-surridge/leistungsdaten/spieler/398402), while his only three starts this season have [all been in that competition](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-surridge/leistungsdaten/spieler/398402) and he was an [unused substitute](https://www.skysports.com/football/swansea-vs-stoke/teams/409478) in the 1-2 defeat by Stoke on Saturday.

Centre-back Wilmot, who is at Swansea [on loan from Watford](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/watford/watford-defender-ben-wilmot-on-verge-of-sealing-swansea-city-loan-switch-a4197861.html), has only made [three appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-wilmot/leistungsdaten/spieler/467599) so far this term and has played [a solitary minute in the Championship](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-wilmot/leistungsdaten/spieler/467599). However, [unlike Surridge](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-surridge/nationalmannschaft/spieler/398402), he has [previously represented England at youth level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-wilmot/nationalmannschaft/spieler/467599).

Both [Surridge](https://twitter.com/surridge_sam/status/1181247140858925058) and [Wilmot](https://twitter.com/BenWilmot24/status/1181241752021340160) took to Twitter to express their delight at being drafted into the England under-21 squad, and these Swansea fans on Twitter also felt thrilled for the pair:
