# Everton: Tom Davies likely out for one or two months

**Everton have now been dealt a big injury blow before their game away at Norwich City in the Premier League this afternoon.**

### The Lowdown: Win needed

With the Canaries currently sitting at the bottom of the table, and the Goodison Park faithful in a [precarious](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) position themselves, a win is much needed for the away team in order to gain some confidence.

They have only won [once](https://www.evertonfc.com/results) in the top flight since actually beating NCFC at home back in September, and so the Merseyside club need to start finding some form, or risk being drawn into a relegation battle.

### The Latest: Davies out

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Rafa Benitez has revealed (via [Phil Kirkbride](https://twitter.com/philkecho/status/1481947002556538882)) that Tom Davies is now likely to be out for ‘1-2 months’.

He has not played for the Toffees since [November](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314210/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=), and now faces an extended period on the sidelines.

### The Verdict: Big blow

Of course, to lose Davies in the first place was a blow, but the fact that he could now be out for the next couple of months makes it a big one.

Described as an ‘[excellent](https://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-fans-will-be-gutted-by-latest-davies-update-pundit/)‘ player by former Premier League ace Paddy Kenny, whenever he has been able to play, Davies is one of their few midfield players that likes to take a shot on goal, averaging [1.2](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Show/England-Everton) per game in the top flight, and it is thus no surprise that with his only start in the division, he [scored](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314210/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

Abdoulaye Doucoure is the only other centre midfielder for the Blues to have [scored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Show/England-Everton) in the Premier League this term, having played [nearly treble](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Show/England-Everton) the amount of matches, and so Davies could add that little extra threat if the forwards are misfiring.

Nonetheless, they have had to [postpone](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/burnley-postponed-covid-19-premier-league/) fixtures before due to a lack of squad depth after rising COVID-19 cases, and Davies offers a valuable squad space for Benitez.
