# Manchester United: Erik ten Hag ‘furious’ with Cristiano Ronaldo

**[Fabrizio Romano](https://www.givemesport.com/88083821-man-utd-latest-news-ten-hag-furious-explosive-cristiano-ronaldo-interview) has revealed that [Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) manager Erik ten Hag is ‘furious’ following Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview.**

### The Lowdown: Ronaldo’s interview

The 37-year-old has criticised the club in a sit-down [interview](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/15115/12747470/cristiano-ronaldo-interview-the-key-issues-from-manchester-united-forwards-criticism-of-erik-ten-hag-and-the-club) with Piers Morgan, admitting that he feels ‘betrayed’ and that he has ‘no respect’ for Ten Hag.

Old Trafford chiefs released an [official statement](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/manchester-united-official-statement-on-cristiano-ronaldo-interview) regarding Ronaldo on Monday, saying they are considering their response after full facts have been established. The Portugal international is now gearing up for the [World Cup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/world-cup-2022/) in Qatar, with the fallout continuing in Manchester.

### The Latest: Romano’s comments

Romano was talking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88083821-man-utd-latest-news-ten-hag-furious-explosive-cristiano-ronaldo-interview) about Ronaldo’s comments and how it has gone down at Old Trafford. The transfer expert said that Ten Hag and his staff are ‘furious’ over the interview, with United ‘working’ on the situation.

Romano outlined: *“I’m told that Erik ten Hag, especially, and his staff are really furious because they see these kind of words as disrespect.*

*“For Erik ten Hag, it is also not easy now to manage the situation before the World Cup because it’s Manchester United as a club and not just an Erik ten Hag problem. Of course, they are disappointed and they are working on it.”*

### The Verdict: Matter of time?

The 37-year-old was [told](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/10/03/cristiano-ronaldo-can-leave-manchester-united-january/) before his interview that he is free to leave in January, and it feels as if it is just a matter of when and not if he moves on from United.

Who knows, the Red Devils may even look to terminate his contract prior to the New Year following his recent comments, something which could make sense for all involved.

Should Ronaldo depart, then Ten Hag may need to bolster his central attacking ranks in the January transfer window, so it could be a busy few months at Old Trafford.
